On July 23rd, 2012, the 4th Global Indonesian Network (GI Net) Dialogue, hosted by Tjitra & associates, Atma Jaya University, KONTAK KMKI (European Catholic student alumni organization), was held in Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia. The sharing dialogue attracted people in academic, business and media spheres from Unilever, KS Energy,Telkom International, Charoen Pokphand, Schott Igar Glass, Triputra Group and etc. 

Dr. Juliana Murniati (Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, Atma Jaya Catholic University) and Dicky Tjitra (Coordinator of KONTAK – KMKI) hosted the event.  Prof. Dr. Hora Tjitra (Zhejiang University and also Executive Director of Tjitra & associates) moderated the talkshow with Dr. Murniati.

As the keynote speaker, Dr. Hana Panggabean(Director from Atma Jaya School of Graduate Program) presented the research result based on quantitative analysis of the careers of 45 top executive level of the Indonesian public listed company, which indicated more than 50% BOD've tasted education abroad, and 25% of them started their careers at multinational company (MNC). Intercultural experience contributed positively on personal development, skills enhancement, and managerial approach as a leader. The main challenge for the organization of the world today is how to develop a systematic program and methods to cultivate this diversity of experience into individual and organizational strengths. A number of recommendations were also presented to individuals and organizations.

During this talkshow, five Indonesian panelists, Adi Harsono (VP from KS Energy, Singapore), Dr. A.Y. Agung Nugroho (Vice Rector in Academic Field – Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia), Hadi Kasim (CEO from Triputra Group) , Lunggar P. Siputro (Sales Development Manager from Shell Indonesia) and Subagyo Wirjantoro (Technical Director from Schott Igar Glass) also discussed energetically their cross-cultural experiences, ups and downs in doing business, co-existing challenges and opportunities, and their persistent efforts to reach career zenith in Indonesia. A few important things were highlighted: being open mind, knowing your passion in work, creating a trustworthy profile and having good attitude, also the importance of support from family and friends, as well as knowing your own identity.
