Journey to the West
On May 2nd, Prof. Tjitra, Prof. Ma, Prof. Jin and 10 students departured from Hangzhou, and arrived early in the morning in Frankfurt, Germany. Then we took the train trip from Frankfurt to Bonn. It was really enjoyable, although we were exhausted and worn out after 15-hour flight; we were awed by the picturesquare landscape on the renowned Rhein river.
During the 10 days in Germany, we visited several international companies, incl. Giesecke & Devrient, BMW etc., went on several cultural tours to, such as City-tour in Munich, German bier-garten on the Starnberg lake, and the famous castle new schwanschtein. Apart from that, we got the chance to discuss about intercultural issues with guest lecturers from some leading consulting companies such as Kienbaum, and Deloitte.
Meanwhile we had cooperated with our German friends on our own team-project . We were divided into four groups, working together in four different topics: 'intercultural assessment tools', 'best practices in international recruitment', 'cross-cultural study on impression management' and 'Video-based intercultural learning'. The intercultural and team learning experience in this team-project was matchless.
During this intensive twenty-day project, we catch a glimpse at German culture and working style through face to face communication, cooperation and experience, which have leave an impressive impression on us. Welcome to visit our forum, to learn about more about our journey to Germany and experience we have learned from this journey.
